  Is the Division of Conservation a state agency?  
A. Yes, the Kentucky Division of Conservation is in the Kentucky Department for Natural Resources, which is in the Kentucky Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet (EPPC), of the commonwealth of Kentucky.

2.  What is a conservation district?    
A. Kentucky has 121 local conservation districts, organized under Chapter 262 of Kentucky's Revised Statutes, which have a responsibility to coordinate assistance from all available sources--public, private, local, state and federal in an effort to develop locally driven solutions to natural resource concerns.

3.  How do I become a local conservation district supervisor if there is an election for terms due to expire?    
A. If a term has expired, the process, in July, would be to obtain and complete a petition from the county clerk's office, obtain the required minimum of 25 signatures from local registered voters and submit the petition to the county clerk.

4.   How do I become a local conservation district supervisor if there is an unexpired term position? 
A. If there is an unexpired term vacancy, the process to become a local conservation district supervisor is to complete a Supervisor Unexpired Term Vacancy Petition, which is available at your county conservation district office or may be downloaded here, obtain the required  minimum of 25 signatures from local registered voters and submit the petition to the local conservation district to be forwarded to the Kentucky Soil and Water Conservation Commission for approval.

5.  Does the Division of Conservation sell hunting and fishing licenses or enforce Kentucky's boating laws?    
A. No. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources sells hunting and fishing licenses and deals with boating laws for the commonwealth of Kentucky.  The Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is the agency responsible for wildlife law enforcement and other such enforcement issues.

6.  Where can I get a copy of a soil survey for a particular county?     
A. There is a published list of soil surveys by county. To obtain a list for your county, contact the Kentucky Division of Conservation office, your local conservation district office or your county Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) office.

7.  Does the state of Kentucky buy agricultural lands?
A. The Kentucky Division of Conservation assists the Kentucky Department of Agriculture in the purchase of agricultural easements to ensure agricultural lands will continue to remain available for agriculture and not be converted to other uses.

8.  Where can I turn if my neighbor or contractor has runoff water onto my property?
A.  The Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection, Division of Water is the contact agency to report something like this.
