Through the federal Technical Service Provider Program under the Farm Bill and other sources of funding, Kentucky landowners and users will have increased availability of field personnel to assist with the wise use and management of our natural resources.
The program coordinator for this program will oversee the implementation of the Technical Service Providers Contributor's Agreement between USDA/NRCS and Kentucky's 121 local conservation districts. This position will act as a liaison on behalf of the local conservation districts between the Division of Conservation and NRCS. This enables the districts to obtain additional technical resources through the federal Technical Service Provider Program under the Farm Bill and from other sources of funding to increase the availability of these field personnel. Technical assistance, in relation to the Farm Bill, includes conservation planning, design, layout, installation and inspection of approved practices. Without the division's administrative oversight, these funds would be lost to Kentucky's conservation districts and to landowners to assist them in participating in federal, state and local conservation programs.
