This section of the agency provides specialized assistance in the retrieval, analysis and utilization of geospatial data including GIS and remotely sensed data. Division of Conservation staff also designs, compiles, modifies and enhances digital imagery, vector and raster data layers. Interpretive products are created, such as cartographic products--maps and Web visualization products--graphs, charts and imagery--to track program accomplishments. Custodial data maintenance is provided for mission-critical layers through geodatabase implementation. Guidance is provided to clientele in terms of data sources, data models and standards.

Digital Soils Data (SSURGO) - In some regions of the state, Kentucky's prime farmland is being converted to different land uses at a fast rate. Utilizing the SSURGO data, the prime farmland (*) data layer digital layer was created for each of the 79 counties for which SSURGO data exist.
